Post-doctoral Fellow in Linguistics

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the School of Humanities (Linguistics), from as soon as possible for a period of three years.

The post falls within the strategic research area of cultural interactions between China and the West. The appointee will contribute to the department’s research programme in contact languages, with a particular focus on languages associated with the China trade: Chinese Pidgin English and Macau Pidgin Portuguese. The appointee will analyze phrasebooks and other historical sources in which these contact languages are represented. Knowledge of Cantonese and contact Linguistics is required, while Portuguese will be an advantage.
