Course Description:
This course introduces basic notions and methods in computer-aided lexicography and practical knowledge of the design and implementation of lexical resources for natural language processing. Emphasis is given to the central role of the lexicon in linguistic analysis. Topics covered on this course include:

  1. Linguistic and Cognitive Foundations of Computational Lexicography
  2. Computational Lexicons as resources for Linguistic analysis
  3. Dictionary entry structure
  4. Lexicon and encyclopaedia 
  5. Lexical semantics and Strategies in lexicographical processes
  6. Lexical resources and corpora development
  7. Techniques for automated lexicography
  8. Applications in Computational Lexicography beyond Linguistics
